The photo in the July 24 issue of the Oyster Bay Enterprise Pilot was really a hard one to identify, but Bill Minicozzi recognized it. "It is the flagpole with the American eagle on top by the Oyster Bay Post Office and the Oyster Bay Town Hall.
The mystery photograph was taken by Robert Fitzpatrick, ace photographer.
Billy wanted to congratulate Jimmy B. and his wife on the birth of their daughter. He wants to wish his dad William M. Minicozzi a rapid recovery from knee surgery. Billy announced that Raymond Collins is the new recording secretary at the Bayville Fire Department.
Linda Placella called to identify the mystery picture but didn't leave the answer and when we called, she was out. She still gets a mention for making the effort. Next time, we'll hopefully make better contact.
As for the July 31 picture, Billy Minicozzi said it was a playground in the Roosevelt Park. On a sports note he said Lance Armstrong won the Tour deFrance bicycle race.
Jack Hutchinson was very accurate when he said, "That is the playground area by the beach at Roosevelt Park. The picture was taken just about at the left field fence on the north field, shooting over the sandy area.
Charlie Schindler of East Norwich also recognized the photo. He said, "It's the renovated children's playground."
That's the truth. There have been several playgrounds erected at the TR Memorial Park. This is the latest.
