Anton Community Newspapers is a sponsor of the "Horses of a Different Color" fundraiser for Nassau County. Proceeds of the project, coordinated by the Nassau County Sports, Entertainment & Tourism Commission and OTB Nassau Downs, will be used to help rebuild the infrastructure of Nassau County's parks and recreational facilities and benefit a New York Racing Association charity.

Along with many others, the Anton Community Newspapers horse was on the lawn of the Nassau County Courthouse on Franklin Avenue. The horses attracted a great deal of attention from those passing by.

The Anton horse sports the logos of the 18 newspapers published by Anton Community Newspapers: Farmingdale Observer, Floral Park Dispatch, Garden City Life, Glen Cove Record Pilot, Great Neck Record, Hicksville Illustrated News, Levittown Tribune, Manhasset Press, Massapequan Observer, Mineola American, New Hyde Park Illustrated, Oyster Bay Enterprise Pilot, Plainview-Old Bethpage Herald, Port Washington News, The Roslyn News, Syosset-Jericho Tribune, Three Village Times, The Westbury Times and the three monthly supplements to the papers: Healthy Living, Drive Time and Boulevard.

Artist Pauli Suominen of Mt. Sinai was chosen by publisher Angela Anton to create the horse. Nassau County Executive Tom Suozzi viewed the "Horse of a Different Color" project as a way to artistically promote the vibrant horse culture that exists here. That includes the Belmont Race Track, home of the third jewel of the Triple Crown of Racing, the Belmont Stakes which took place on June 7.
