Evelyn Ruth Jorge (nee Hampel), a resident of Mill Neck, died on May 13, 2003. She was the devoted wife of Arlindo Jorge and mother of Judy A. Kay, Nancy E. Torcivia (deceased) and Arlin Jorge. She is also survived by a sister Grace Hampel of Adams, MA, and six granddaughters, Stephanie and Theadora Torcivia, Arizona and Indiana Kay, Jaimie and Danica Jorge.

Evelyn was born on July 5, 1923 and graduated from Adams High School in Adams, MA in 1940. She received a BA in education from Massachusetts State Teachers College at N. Adams in 1944 and an MS in education from the University of LI at Brookville in 1973. Her alma mater, now renamed Massachusettes College of Liberal Arts, bestowed her a doctor of pedagogy honorary degree this year.

Evelyn taught elementary public school for 43 years before retiring in 1992. Her teaching career includes positions in Newton, Brookline and Amherst. MA, Ann Arbor, MI, Roslyn and 36 years at North Shore Schools, Glen Head. Her career included training of teacher candidates for Wheelock College, University of Michigan, LIU and Adelphi University.

The Jorge family have been members of the Nassau Country Club for over 35 years. Evelyn was active in sports all those years especially tennis and golf.

Arrangements were made by the Dodge-Thomas Funeral Home, Glen Cove. A memorial service will be held at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Glen Cove on May 22 at 10:30 a.m. Interment private. Donations in her name may be made to St. Paul's Episcopal Foundation, 28 Highland Rd., Glen Cove, NY 11542.

Louise B. Ward, a longtime resident of Centre Island, died on May 16, 2003. Wife of the late Frederick H. Mother of Alexandria, Frederick E. and Scott. Grandmother of Christopher, Melissa and Mark. Arrangements were made by the Francis P. DeVine Funeral Home, Oyster Bay. Funeral service at Christ Church. Interment Locust Valley Cemetery.

Victoria Marmorale, of Locust Valley, died on May 18, 2003. Wife of the late Frank. Mother of Joseph (Nancy), Frank Jr. (Andrea) and Diana (Stuart) Buchan. Sister of Lucille Capobianco and the late Paul Malachowski, Felix and Frank Mataska, Helen Paulovich, Ida Ruzzi and Dolly Miller. Grandmother of six. Great-grandmother of six. Arrangements were made by the McLaughlin Kramer Megiel Funeral Home, Glen Cove. Funeral Mass celebrated at St. Hyacinth Church. Interment Holy Rood Cemetery.

Ralph O. Abraham, of Oyster Bay, died on May 18, 2003. Husband of the late Rose. Father of Rosemary (Michael) Rich. Grandfather of Rosemarie and Michael F. Rich III. Brother of the late Myrtle Nicholson, Charles and Clifford Abraham. Arrangements were made by the Francis P. DeVine Funeral Home, Oyster Bay. Interment Bayville Cemetery. Donations can be made to Hospice Care of LI, 900 Merchants Concourse, Westbury, NY 11590 or the Brooke Jackman Fund, PO Box 354, Mill Neck, nY 11765.
