TR Park Advisory Committee Grows
If Oyster Bay Town Photographer Joe DeSalvo hadn't stayed until the end of the first meeting of the Theodore Roosevelt Memorial Park Advisory Committee, his official photograph would have been very different. The gathering took place at 5 p.m. April 29, in the Town of Oyster Bay hearing room, prior to the regular town meeting. If taken at the beginning of the meeting, it would have included the newly appointed nine-member commission. Instead the photograph tells the story of the meeting itself, that town appointed chair Councilman Chris Coschignano invited all those attending to be in the picture. It was a statement that the committee would be inclusive and not exclusive.

OB Railroad Museum Closer to Reality
This year, the Friends of Locomotive #35 used the WaterFront Center as the location for their annual meeting on April 12. That was because of ongoing construction work being done at the Oyster Bay railroad station that is necessary to stabilize the structure. The members met in the classroom at the DEC building on West End Avenue. The building houses the WaterFront Center, the Oyster Bay Sailing School, the Christeen as well as the local office of the Department of Environmental Concerns.

Oyster Bay Town Supervisor John Venditto announced that applications are now open for the 12th Annual Nick Katsounis Memorial North American Wheelchair 10K Race, scheduled for Sunday, June 29, at Ellsworth Allen Town Park in Farmingdale, with a starting time 8 a.m. sharp.
