How Well Do You Know the Area? Do you know where this week's picture was taken? If you do, call the Enterprise-Pilot at 747-8282 and let us know. If you have a picture that you think might be interesting for others to guess, drop it off in our box at Pleasant Valley Gallery & Gifts, 101 South Street, Oyster Bay.

"It's the old Jakobson ship dock" said Barbara Harley, as she identified the mystery picture in the April 3 issue of the Oyster Bay Enterprise Pilot. When she heard she was right, she said laughingly, "I'm so excited. My husband didn't think it was that. I should have bet him."
Jack Hutchinson called to say, "It's the old Jakobson Shipyard, with Bayville to the left and Centre Island to the right in the photo." Right he is!
Billy Minicozzi said, "It's the boardwalk, in the snow, at Oyster Bay Harbor." He wanted to mention Town of Oyster Bay staff members Richard Betz, Mary Starke and Peggy Avantato for being in charge of the town walk-through that gave residents information about the three town rallies in support of our service people in Iraq. He was one of the people who put the items into the mail boxes of local residents.
Thank you Billy and your friends for a great job of informing the public. The Oyster Bay Rally is reported on page 1 of this issue.
An e-mail came in saying, "I believe the picture is of the dock at Roosevelt Park. The one on the other side of the dock house," said Ralph Ceglia of Tarzana, California.
While he is not correct, he certainly knows Oyster Bay. The newly refurbished Jakobson dock looks much like the existing fishing pier to the east at Roosevelt Park.
The "phantom picture identifier" called and said, "This week's picture is really easy. It's the pier at Jakobsons and I hope to be taking my brand new granddaughter Emma Rachel to the pier, fishing, when she's old enough!"
Now there's a clue to his identity. Mystery identifications are welcome.
We got a correct identification for the mystery picture in the April 3 issue of the paper. It came from Patricia Sands. She said, "The mystery picture is taken at Raynham Hall Museum looking into the hall, into the dining room." Standing in the doorway is Connie Clarke, who does publicity for the museum. Ms. Sands has been a museum board member, worked with SPLIA and knows the history of this area. Ms. Sands also mentioned that there was no notice of the Prom Boutique collection going on at the Long Island Volunteer Center (LIVC), at 115 South St., Oyster Bay on Sunday, April 6. Unfortunately we didn't receive a press release on the event, but there is still time to act in person by calling them at (516) 564-5482.
Claire Bellerjeau of Pleasant Valley Gallery & Gifts called to say, "I thought it was the inside of Raynham Hall Museum, am I right?" She is!
Two more calls were received and they were both great guesses. Michael Piccolo called and suggested it was Mrs. Storrs' house. It was a great guess because the foyer, as photographed looks a great deal like the wide board floored foyer that leads into Mrs. Storrs' great hall where gala events are held.
Bayville Mayor Victoria Siegel also made a good guess. She suggested it was one of the rooms in Chelsea in East Norwich. Again, it was a great guess!
We recently received a call from Steve at First Encounter Hair Design, but without the answer. Because the salon is closed on Monday, we haven't gotten back to him. We complete the column on Mondays.
