Grenville Baker Boys & Girls Club took the opportunity recently to acknowledge the 2003 National Girls and Women in Sport Day (NGWSD) celebration by inviting SUNY Old Westbury female basketball players to give a demonstration to GBBGC's girls' basketball teams. Brian Theirrien, director of Athletic Leagues invited former member and staffer, Michaela MacDonald and three of her colleagues who play for the university.

The members participated in shooting hoops, learning the right moves, and then playing a game. There was also a short introduction to the concept of the NGWSD based on the Department of Education's Title IX decision, which guaranteed equal school funding for athletic opportunities for girls as well as boys.
