Book Mark Café Closes
Daria and David Lamb have sold The Book Mark Café to the Harvest Restaurant Group. The Lambs have been operating the Book Mark Cafe for 7 years at their present location at One East Main Street, the Town of Oyster Bay Landmark Moore's building which housed the summer office of Theodore Roosevelt.

Arie Bucheister Dies at 46
The Bucheister family came here 13 years ago to put down roots in a community. That they were successful at doing so was demonstrated by the response of that community when their need was greatest. Arie Bucheister died on Feb. 1. He leaves behind his wife Beth and their daughters Heidi, a senior and Carly, in ninth grade at Oyster Bay High School.

Bay Ladies Championship Bound
The Oyster Bay Lady Baymen's Varsity Basketball team finished off a successful season on Thursday, Feb. 13, with their last game against Friends Academy. After beginning the season with three straight losses, the Lady Baymen took their game to a new level. They went on a four-game winning streak in the middle of the season and won their last seven games. Each of their last three wins, coming against North Shore, Carle Place, and Friends Academy, were by 10 points or more. Oyster Bay finished with a 12-6 total record, with 11 wins and two losses in league play. The team competed in Conference V, Class C, where they played schools such as Cold Spring Harbor, Carle Place, North Shore, Friends Academy, East Rockaway, Malverne, Valley Stream North and Wheatley.

Al Leiter Inspires Children to Play Baseball in Oyster Bay
Major League pitcher Al Leiter of the New York Mets came to Oyster Bay High School on Saturday, Feb. 1 to meet all of the children participating in three free baseball clinics recently held at the Oyster Bay High School gymnasium. He was invited by Doug Petersen, president of the executive board of the newly formed Al Leiter Little League (ALLL).
