A "mystery woman" called to answer the mystery picture but she didn't leave her name. She said, "The mystery picture in the Jan. 23 issue of the Enterprise Pilot is an oldie: that's for sure. It's the Oyster Bay train station." Right.
Jack Hutchinson said, "That picture was taken long before me. It's the Oyster Bay train station."
Belle Santora said the mystery picture is the railroad station in Oyster Bay. "From 1927 to 1936 I commuted there and for $3.04 a month you got a ticket for the whole month and could make two or three round trips a day. I have a lot of memories of those days and I made a lot of friends on the train," she said.
Richard and Brenda Downing knew what the mystery picture was and he called to say, "That's the Oyster Bay railroad station. It looks like back when Teddy Roosevelt was around."
Billy Minicozzi recognized the photo as "The Oyster Bay train station taken around 1910."
Rose Murphy, a former Oyster Bay resident called from Poukeepsie to say the mystery picture is "The Oyster Bay railroad station the way it used to be. I enjoy trying to guess what the mystery picture is!"
Frank DiCarolis identified the mystery picture as the Glen Gove railroad station, which was an interesting answer. It too is an older building.
This answer came in via email for the previous mystery picture, after we went to press for the Jan. 23 issue. It was from Woody Ryder, past president of the Oyster Bay Historical Society. He said, "It sure looks like the Matinecock Lodge of the Free and Accepted Order of the Masons."
