Christeen Primes for Oyster Fest
For the second straight year volunteers from the oyster sloop Christeen represented The Waterfront Center at the 25th Annual Norwalk Seaport Association Oyster Festival. On Sunday, Sept. 8 a dozen volunteers crossed Long Island Sound aboard the National Historic Landmark to share the oldest remaining oyster sloop in America with Connecticut oyster lovers.
Oyster Bay Chamber of Commerce Surfs the Internet
The Oyster Bay Chamber of Commerce is "surfing" the Internet for members. President Karen DeVine-Minicozzi said she sent the chamber newsletter by e-mail to area businesses they usually don't reach. Using a reverse directory she contacted about 120 small local businesses as well as members. She believed it was effective by the increase in the number of people attending the meeting on Thursday, Sept. 5, at the Homestead Restaurant.

Bare Boat Chartering is the act of renting a boat without a captain. Twenty years ago, if you chartered a boat, it was stripped down. Now when you charter a boat, they are typically loaded with everything you need, and hopefully a few things that you will never need- like a life raft. There are many places to travel to and many, many companies to choose from. The number one charter destination is the British Virgin Islands, known to sailors as the BVI. Out of all the companies that charter, two stand out as the largest, The Moorings and SunSail. We have chartered from the two companies and were very satisfied with them both.
OBEN Soccer Club Kicks Off Their 2002 Fall Season
The OBEN spring soccer season is under way for the 10 travel teams. Since the spring season ended, teams worked on their skills over the summer. Teams honed their skills at three weeks of camps sponsored by the club and run by the Premiere soccer academy. The following are the travel teams representing the town throughout Long Island and New York State.
