Full Moon Fever
The other night we were out on the harbor for our first "full moon kayak." After another hot and humid day, we were taking an after dinner walk to take advantage of the cooler evening. We walked down to the pier at The Waterfront Center to see the sunset. Shortly after the sunset, we decided to go kayaking. We took the Sagamore Yacht Club launch out to our moored sailboat and quickly dropped our kayaks into the water. The kayaks were still on the boat from the previous weekend. We had sailed to Lloyd Harbor, anchored overnight for the evening, and then kayaked the entire harbor. As you travel west Lloyd Harbor starts to look like a river in New England. At the end where the road divides Oyster Bay Harbor and Lloyd Harbor, there is a marsh filled with incredible wildlife.

The WaterFront Center hosted its first sailboat regatta for novice sailors on Thursday, Aug. 15. Culminating six weeks of bi-weekly sailing lessons at the Oyster Bay Sailing School, nine juniors from the Boys and Girls Club of Oyster Bay East Norwich enthusiastically completed three races in Optimists in a light southerly breeze.
