Super Sizing Oyster Fest 2002
The Oyster Fest 2002 is upping the ante for this year's food festival. It will be held on Saturday Oct. 19 and Sunday, Oct. 20 in the hamlet of Oyster Bay. This year, it all starts with a new event, the Waterfront Gala/Sponsor's Reception to be held on Friday Oct. 18 with fireworks and great food under a big white tent.

OB Station's 100th Anniversary
The 100th anniversary of the LIRR Oyster Bay station house will be celebrated on Sept. 7 at 2 p.m. It will be held in the waiting room of the station building located at the end of Audrey Ave. The celebration will take place after the general membership meeting of the Friends of Locomotive No. 35.

Full Moon Fever
The other night we were out on the harbor for our first "full moon kayak." After another hot and humid day, we were taking an after dinner walk to take advantage of the cooler evening. We walked down to the pier at The Waterfront Center to see the sunset. Shortly after the sunset, we decided to go kayaking. We took the Sagamore Yacht Club launch out to our moored sailboat and quickly dropped our kayaks into the water. The kayaks were still on the boat from the previous weekend. We had sailed to Lloyd Harbor, anchored overnight for the evening, and then kayaked the entire harbor. As you travel west Lloyd Harbor starts to look like a river in New England. At the end where the road divides Oyster Bay Harbor and Lloyd Harbor, there is a marsh filled with incredible wildlife.

The WaterFront Center Hosts Regatta
The WaterFront Center hosted its first sailboat regatta for novice sailors on Thursday, Aug. 15. Culminating six weeks of bi-weekly sailing lessons at the Oyster Bay Sailing School, nine juniors from the Boys and Girls Club of Oyster Bay East Norwich enthusiastically completed three races in Optimists in a light southerly breeze.
