Chelsea: Designer's Showcase 2002
Chelsea Center, the Nassau County property on Route 25A in Muttontown (and East Norwich) will feature a Designer's Showcase in the fall. The announcement was made as part of the discussion at the July 8 Village of Muttontown meeting.

Sean's Garden Dedication August 25
To celebrate the life of former active 4-H member, Sean Halvorsen, a garden is being developed in his name. "My grandson, Sean Tyler Halvorsen of Locust Valley, died suddenly on July 12. He was 20," said Theodore Jenkins.

Matt McNamara Gold Medalist at the 25th Empire State Games
Matt McNamara of Oyster Bay won the gold medal in scholastic hammer throwing at the 25th Empire State Games, held in Syracuse on July 31 through Aug. 4. The hammer, an Olympic event, consists of a 12-pound steel ball at the end of a four foot wire. Matt has thrown the hammer 182'11" and has been ranked number one in New York State for the past year. He is one of the leading scholastic hammer throwers in the nation, being ranked fifth among the returning seniors of the Class of 2003.

Help the Red Cross Swim-A-Cross Beat Last Year's All-time Records
The American Red Cross in Nassau County (ARC/Nassau) looks forward to a potentially record-breaking year at the 13th Annual Swim-A-Cross in Oyster Bay Harbor on Friday, August 16. Last year's Swim-A-Cross had an all-time record of 149 swimmers and raised a record setting $22,000 for local disaster relief and life-saving programs.
