Child Care Council of Nassau Sponsors Sixth Annual 'Stand for Children' Day
Commemorating the first Stand for Children rally which attracted over 300,000 people at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington DC in 1996, the Child Care Council of Nassau held its Sixth Annual Children's Garden planting event in May at Eisenhower Park, adjacent to the children's playground.

Boys Intramural Basketball Registration Now in Progress
The Boys & Girls Club of Oyster Bay-East Norwich will be beginning its second year of boys intramural basketball. Registration began on Aug. 1 Basketball registration forms can be picked up at the Boys & Girls Clubhouse and must be mailed to the attention of Michael Glancy with payment. Hand-delivered registration forms will not be accepted. This program is open to all boys in grades fourth through eighth. The grades will be split into two divisions: fourth and sixth through eighth.

New Boat Delivery --
Recently one Friday evening, Shelley-Sue and I were asked to help bring a friend's new boat around from Freeport to Oyster Bay. The trip would take us through the Jones Beach Inlet, into the ocean, through New York Harbor, up the East River and into the Long Island Sound, before heading east to Oyster Bay.
