Tom Keller is signing up people to take part in this year's Swim-A-Cross. One year he had about 25 family members at the event, many of whom swam the mile across Oyster Bay Harbor.

The American Red Cross in Nassau County's Swim-A-Cross is a one-mile swim in Oyster Bay Harbor. Swim in memory of a loved one lost on 9-11, and submit a photograph for the memory board. The event is at 9 a.m., Friday, August 16 at Centre Island Beach in Bayville.

Bob Keller is actively seeking people to take part in this year's swim across. He has been asking members of the Doubleday Babcock Senior Center to sign up.

Pre-registration is $25 or $35 the day of the swim at the beach. Prizes and T-shirts for qualified swimmers. The event supports local disaster relief and lifesaving programs. Visit www.NassauRedCross.org to download a registration brochure or call Jennifer Wolf at (516) 747-3500 ext. 251.
