Students Urged to Risk and Dream
It may take four years of college before graduates of Oyster Bay High School can top their speaker on June 23. United States Senator Chuck Schumer was the "mystery guest," at the graduation ceremonies that took place on the terrace of the high school. It could be said that the sun and heat on graduation day is the last great test for district seniors. They all passed with distinction.
Rob Crafa Tells the Waterfront Story
Rob Crafa sees his job at the WaterFront Center (WFC) in Oyster Bay as entrepreneurial. "We are creating something from nothing," he said to members of the Oyster Bay Chamber of Commerce at their June meeting where he was the guest speaker. Mr. Crafa has been the executive director of the WFC, aka the Center for Marine Education and Recreation at Oyster Bay Marine for the past two and a half years.
Take a Swing at MS in Muttontown
On Monday, July 29 the Long Island Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society will host its 16th annual golf outing at the Muttontown Club in East Norwich to raise funds and awareness for multiple sclerosis (MS), a potentially devastating neurological disease. Known for years as the MS Golf Classic, the event is being officially renamed in memory of its founder, and Muttontown Club member, Fred Weingarten, who recently lost a courageous battle against cancer. The Fred Weingarten Long Island MS Golf Classic, since its inception, has raised more than $2,000,000 for MS research and local programs and services benefiting people with MS and their families throughout Nassau and Suffolk counties.
