Oyster Bay Cove Election June 18
The Oyster Bay Cove election takes place on June 18, but the heat began on May 21. At that meeting at the East Woods School, over 200 residents attended a hearing on new licensing laws being proposed by the board. Several residents questioned whether the village needed more regulations.
Florence Park Needs Help
The creation of a new park district in the hamlet of Oyster Bay is the subject of a public hearing by the Oyster Bay Town Board on June 18. The new park district will be called the Florence Park Shores Park District.
(Oyster) Bay Day Is a Blast!
If Bay Day and the Anything That Floats Race hadn't already been invented, someone would have to create them: together they made such a great Oyster Bay event. Sitting in the judges viewing stand on Saturday, June 1, former Friends of the Bay Executive Director Denise Woodin said, "Three years ago there was a rock band and a few kayaks, now there's dozens of boats competing and people all over the beach. Isn't it amazing how it's grown." She had been helping out at the food tent and was acting as a judge in the Anything That Floats Race this year.
Mill Max Aces Corporate Race
Gregory Van Dyke built The Sagamore Pearl, one of two corporate competitors in Anything That Floats Race. The other boat was made by Mill Max Mfg. and was easily the winner of the race. The team was made up of Mike Phillips, Pete Langdon, Charlie Galasso, Marcus Holenstein and Mike Gargan!
