New Muttontown Trustee Appointed
The May 13 meeting was the last for Muttontown Village Trustee Bert Spitz. Mayor Murcott thanked Bert for all his work on the board, as a trustee and as president of Muttontown Knolls Civic Association. Mr. Spitz has moved to East Norwich, and plans to be active with the East Norwich Civic Association.

Korean Veteran Added to Monument
As the annual Memorial Day Parade ended, on Monday May 27, many marchers joined people in the area in front of Town Hall East. There, Parade Chairman, Past Commander of the Quentin Roosevelt American Legion Post No. 4, Reggie Butt stood before a podium at the microphone. This year the crowd was huge. It was a unique year: someone mentioned that besides the new parade route, there was the effect of September 11 that has stirred the patriotic feelings of the nation.

Heard on the Bay
Just recently, we have all enjoyed another Memorial Day Weekend. When you are a boater, you can easily remember the past Memorial Day Weekends. Four years ago, we sailed into Oyster Bay Harbor for the first time. The weather forecast from Newsday is cut out and pasted into our log- four days of sunny 90-degree weather. The following year, our boat was delayed being put into the water. When it finally was launched, it was 5 p.m. Friday evening of Memorial Day Weekend. That was only after much yelling and screaming on our part. And then it rained. Last year we had our new boat. It was in the water and ready for the holiday weekend, and then it rained. When it didn't rain, it was too windy to enjoy.

Oyster Bay Soccer Club Travel Team News
Tryouts for the Hurricanes, and the Stormers Under 11 Girls, will be held June 6 and 11 from 5 to 6 p.m. at the Vernon School. Call the coaches or check the club's excellent website at www.obensoccer.org for all other travel team try out information.
