It is very exciting to hear about the proposed Internet café being created in a partnership between Charles Wang of Computer Associates and the students of Oyster Bay High School.
While on vacation, in Cazanovia, New York, we visited Common Grounds, a café run by students on the Main Street of the town. The students made and served the sandwiches and beverages. The room was filled with large tables and chairs, some cozy arm chairs and sofas, and with local newspapers available to read.
It was a place where both young and old mingled: a goal of the café. The idea of having something similar in Oyster Bay is very pleasing. It is a nice statement on the part of Charles Wang and his associates at Island Properties, that they are interested and willing to provide a place for the young people in town to meet and mingle. It sounds like the kind of place adults would also enjoy.
We are looking forward to spending an evening at Obie's Juice and Java. "We'll have a decaf light with an Equal, please," we'll say.
