Six months after the horrific attack on the World Trade Center, Senator Carl L. Marcellino (R, Syosset) announced on March 11, that the New York State Senate passed three bills to commemorate September 11 as an official day of remembrance. The legislation will require the American flag to be flown at half-staff at public buildings and encourage the display of the flag throughout the state on that day. FULL STORY

The Oyster Bay Girls Varsity Basketball team had a great season. The top-seeded team won their Class C Division over second place Cold Spring Harbor, 51 to 43. They then put icing on their cake with a win over Eastport High School in Suffolk. FULL STORY

We've have been sailing for nine years. We are not writing this column as authorities, in fact, we are usually fair weather sailors. We have always kept a log on all of our time spent on the water. Even if all we did was pick up dinner-to-go from Mario's Italian restaurant, rush out to the boat, sail into West Harbor, eat dinner, and watch a sunset before returning home. Just a few hours out on the water, and there is usually something special to write in our log.
