Maria Elizabeth DiManto-Cunningham, of Oyster Bay and Mineola, died on Jan. 8, 2002. She was born on Oct. 1, 1920 to Joseph DiManto and Frances Potter of Oyster Bay and was a graduate of Oyster Bay High School and Vogue Institute of Beauty Culture. She taught hairstyling and make-up. During WWII, she worked for Grumman Aerospace Corp. and then pursued an extensive career in modeling working in Europe, the Caribbean and the US. She was involved in the theater and had been casted in the movie Black Rose and the theater production of Caesar and Cleopatra. She was a runner-up for Miss Rheingold 1955. She later worked at Lord & Taylor and volunteered as a crossing guard. She enjoyed gardening, archery, swimming, water skiing, horseback riding and interior decorating. Wife of the late Albert. Mother of Albert Cunningham Jr. Sister of Vicky Maddox. Grandmother of Lindsay, Michael and Martin. Great-grandmother of Patria, Donnell, Anthony and Devon. Mother-in-law of Patria and Rose. Also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her brother Lee and granddaughter Leisha. Arrangements were made by the Oyster Bay Funeral Home. Service with Fr. William O'Rourke officiating. Interment Pine Hollow Cemetery.
