In spite of the enormous tragedy to befall New York City last week, but in keeping with the true spirit of New Yorkers and adhering to the advice of Mayor Rudy Giuliani to get back to normal as soon as possible, the Oyster Fest in Oyster Bay under the auspices of the Oyster Bay Rotary will go forward as planned on October 13 and 14, 2001.
A major component of the Festival has always been the car raffle. This year, the raffle committee has outdone itself. The lucky winner will have a choice among three outstanding motor vehicles: a 2002 Chevy Trailblazer, a 2002 Dodge Ram 1500, or a 2001 BMW 325i. Or, the winner may choose instead a cash prize of $20,000. Only 3000 raffle tickets will be sold for $20 each and they can be purchased from any Rotarian, from tables set up at Stop and Shop on weekends from now until the Festival, and at various retail establishments and banks in the village which display the sign saying that Oyster Festival raffle tickets are available at this location.
If you have any questions about the Festival, or want to help in any way, please call Tom Reardon at 922-6133. This is a community event run for the benefit of the community. Join your friends and neighbors in this worthwhile effort.
