Paul Keller of Bayville, identified the mystery picture as "The medium on the north side of Northern Boulevard for the southbound side of Route 106. The picture is probably taken from Rothmann's corner. I haven't been calling recently because my 1-year-old son is keeping me busy," he said.
That's just how it should be! Congratulations Paul!
Billy Minicozzi called to say, "It's 106 in East Norwich where the road is going north to Oyster Bay and south to Hicksville. He said the Bayville Fire Company is starting to work on their Haunted Fire House and if you want to help, call them at 628-1922.
Katie called again and said in a soft voice, "The photo is taken looking down 25A, east past the Texaco station."
Brenda Downing said on Saturday, at the Chicken Barbecue at the Community United Methodist Church of East Norwich, that she tried to leave a voice mail message. "It's Northern Boulevard and 106. I haven't been here for years, but I know the area," she said.
Brenda and Richard will be celebrating their first wedding anniversary on Oct. 7. "We'll be celebrating at Rothmann's. We got a gift certificate from Bill and Lois Thompson. He's not with us, we have lost so many people this year," said Richard who is a member of the East Norwich Fire Department.
Anthony DiSario answered by e-mail and said, "I live in Georgia now, but I grew up in East Norwich and I know where this picture was taken. I haven't been there in over a year so I am not sure what is on that corner now. I think the new Rothmann's is still there, it was once Boulder Creek and lots of other restaurants before that.
"That picture is of the island dividing North and South 106. The picture was taken at the corner of 106 and 25A facing east down 25A.
"The photographer was standing on the corner in front of the East Norwich Inn and Rothmann's facing in the direction of Huntington."
(Actually, the photographer was in the car, stopped at a traffic light.)
Belle Santora said, "The big intersection of 106 and 25A meet, where the Rothmann's corner is located."
Mike Fletcher of Oyster Bay said, "It's the corner of 106 and Northern Boulevard, facing east!"
You've all been great with the compass directions. Billy's Sports Update
