Playing Fields Approved for St. Dominic's
At a very short Aug. 2 public meeting held before the Board of Zoning Appeals of the Incorporated Village of Muttontown at the village hall, the application by St. Dominic's R.C. Church for a special use permit and variance for a 48.06 acre parcel of land was approved.

Day Break Gives Respite
Mary DiSario, director of the Day Break Program at the Doubleday Babcock Senior Center is trying to get word out about their respite service for caregivers of the elderly and frail. The work is receiving recognition: "We received a grant from United Way," said Ms. DiSario, DBSC, Adult Day Senior coordinator. The monies will help fund the program for people who care for seniors and are financially challenged.

House Cleaning Day on the Bay
Saturday dawned clear and bright for the North Oyster Bay Baymen's Association's annual harbor cleanup. It was held on June 9, in conjunction with the Town of Oyster Bay, the Mill River Rod and Gun Club, Oyster Bay Anglers and Friends of the Bay. Using boats donated by independent baymen, the Frank M. Flower & Sons, Co. Inc. oyster company and Friends of the Bay, volunteers were transported from the town boat ramp at Theodore Roosevelt Park to various shoreline locations where they collected debris.
