Sail Oyster Bay offers high-quality, affordable sailing instruction to the youth of the community. The program is sponsored by the Oyster Bay Sailing Foundation, and runs in cooperation with the Boys and Girls Club of Oyster Bay-East Norwich and the Oyster Bay Sailing School.

On Monday, June 25, sailors in grades 4 through 10 gathered at Oyster Bay Sailing School to kick off their first week of vacation with a program involving 15 hours of sailing instruction. In groups of four sailors per boat, registrants participated in classes designed to provide practical, hands-on experience in basic sailing.

Based on the continued success of the program, the Boys and Girls Club hopes to continue Sail Oyster Bay next year and expand the enrollment. The sailors and parents all appreciated the chance to share fun and memories on the waters of Oyster Bay.

Anyone interested in joining Sail Oyster Bay should watch for registration information in the April 2002 edition of the Boys and Girls Club Newsletter. Questions about the program should be directed to Brenda Lewis at 922-9285, ext. 106.
