The St. Gertrude Girls 5th grade basketball team are the Nassau-Suffolk champions. The Lady Waves of Bayville finished a perfect season with a 22-15 win over St. Cyr of Deer Park to win the Nassau-Suffolk championship.

The team compiled a 16-0 undefeated season.

All year long the team proved that hard work, dedication, and teamwork would be the winning ingredients.

The Lady Waves played hard defense and team offense to keep their perfect season a reality to win the championship.

The team consists of Lisa Brunnetti, Jaime Burke, Jackie Caputo, Melanie Carbone, Janine Gatti, Lauren Kronenberger, Ashley Lewis, Caitlin Sheehan, Holly Tarantino.

The coaches were Joe Kronenberger and Tom Sheehan.

A special thanks goes to Athletic Director Pete Miller for without his dedication and hard work, St. Gertrude's would not be the winning program it is.
