Preventing School Violence
School violence is the subject of a free workshop for parents and teens being presented on Saturday, Feb. 10, at the Oyster Bay High School. The presentation is the joint venture of the First Presbyterian Church of Oyster Bay (the host group), Christ Church, St. Dominic Church and Mill Max Mfg. The family of a student who died during the April 20, 1999, shootings at Columbine High School in Littleton, Colorado, will speak.

Western Waterfront Moves Along
Town Board members were greeted with a letter representing the 3,000 members of Friends of the Bay before their Tuesday, Jan. 23 meeting. In it, Denise Woodin, FOB executive director urged the board to adopt two resolutions authorizing funding for the Oyster Bay Western Waterfront project. The Town of Oyster Bay has received a $3,000,000 New York State Environmental Protection Fund Grant for the Western Waterfront.

Oyster Bay-East Norwich PAL Karate Program
On Oct. 21, 2000, the Oyster Bay-East Norwich Police Activity League Karate Program participated in a nationwide "Kick-A-Thon" to benefit the Project Action Foundation. This organization is a national award-winning children's charity that helps fight the daily battle of juvenile crime. This program is designed to keep "at-risk" kids off the streets and out of trouble.
