When the new sails for the oyster sloop Christeen arrived from Gamble & Hunter Sailmakers of Camden, Maine, there was a lot of excitement on the bay. When they put them to the test, the crew faced a problem, the sails were too long.

Muttontown Views Tax Raise
The Muttontown Village budget is up $200,000 as a result of expenses, said Village Mayor Richard Murcott. There are three reasons, he said: defending against litigation; certiorari payments and the lower assessment of the village as a result of the county devaluing property; and police costs are up.

Another successful year of the girls intramural basketball just concluded at the Boys & Girls Club. The league was divided into two divisions, grades fourth through fifth and sixth though eighth.

Invitations are going out for the 12th Annual Chukkars for Children to be held on Sunday, June 11, at Hickox field in Old Westbury.
