Joseph Paul Ferrera, formerly of Oyster Bay. Joe passed away suddenly but peacefully at his Dallas, TX, home on March 20, 2000. He was born Oct. 25, 1933 and raised in Oyster Bay. A graduate of OBHS, he became a Naval NROTC Scholar and graduated from Northwestern University in Evanston, IL. Joe started his career with the R.R. Donnelly Printing Co. in Chicago and then Publication Engineers and Consultants before joining Macmillan Publishing Co. in NY where he became director of manufacturing of the College Textbook Division. Later, as manager of sales - southwest, for Ris Paper Co. in Dallas, Joe embarked on his new and final career path for this company based in the northeast. In addition to the distinguished awards he received throughout his career for his many contributions to the publishing and printing industry, Joe was revered as an expert, advisor and resource for those in the industry.
Predeceased in death by his parents Jack and Elma Ferrera, he is survived by his wife of 39 years, Dolores; his daughter and son-in-law, Laura and Scott Weiner; grandsons, Brandon and Kevin Weiner; his sister, Marie Knight of Oyster Bay; and his niece and godchild, Lesliann Knight Jat of London, England.

Visitation was at the Sparkman-Dickey Funeral Home in Dallas on March 23. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Bill Smith at the Cox Chapel of Highland Park United Methodist Church. A brief interment service followed at Hillcrest Memorial Park East Chapel.
Janet Anthony Wright, 92, formerly of Locust Valley, died on March 21, 2000, in S. Windsor, CT at the S. Windsor Health Center. She was the wife of the late Ernest Wright. Mrs. Wright was born March 22, 1908 in Broxburn, Scotland, emigrating to America with her family in 1914. After graduating from Glen Cove High School in 1926, she worked for many years as a bookkeeper. She was a longtime member of the Locust Valley Reformed Church. Mrs. Wright is survived by her daughter, Barbara Passmore, and her husband, Hunter of Manchester, CT; sister Mary Fuller of Lakeville, MA; and grandchildren, Eric Passmore of San Francisco and John Passmore of Manchester. Arrangements were made by the Dodge-Thomas Funeral Home, Glen Cove. Interment Locust Valley Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be sent to the Alzheimer's Association or the Locust Valley Reformed Church.
Stella Stanco (nee Pilla), 85, of Locust Valley, died on March 23, 2000. She was past president of the Women's Auxiliary American Legion, Howard Van Wagner Post, and a volunteer at the Grenville Baker Boys and Girls Club. Wife of Thomas C. Mother of Michael (Barbara), Thomas A. (Linda) and Jamie (Susi). Sister of Jennie Boris and Ed Pilla. Grandmother of Kimberly Ann, Craig, Jessica Lynn, Matthew Thomas, Zachary James and Cassi Paige. Arrangements were made by the Dodge-Thomas Funeral Home, Glen Cove. Mass at St. Patrick's RC Church. Interment Locust Valley Cemetery.
