Oyster Bay Town Supervisor John Venditto announced that the Oyster Bay Town Board has approved a schedule of fees for the 2000 season at Harry Tappen and Theodore Roosevelt Marinas that holds the line on 1999 rates at Tappen and at 1998 rates at Theodore Roosevelt.

"The town board is pleased to be able to hold the line on fees at Harry Tappen and Theodore Roosevelt Marinas," Supervisor Venditto stated. "Both of these facilities greatly contribute to the outstanding quality of life we enjoy in the town.

"Rates at Roosevelt Marina, which is open to Oyster Bay Town residents only, have been held at the 1998 level," Town Supervisor John Venditto stated. "Boats 20 feet and longer without electric are $70 per foot while the same size boats with electric are $75 per foot.

"Rates at Tappen Marina, which is open to both town residents and non-residents, range from $30 per foot for a resident-owned boat 14 to 17 feet without electric to $65 per foot for a non-town resident-owned boat 25 feet or longer with electric," Supervisor Venditto continued. "These rates make Tappen an attractive choice for home port.

"Tappen also offers a weekly transient fee," Supervisor Venditto said. "The fee for a resident-owned boat 20 feet and under is $85 a week and $150 a week for 20 feet and over. The non-resident transient fee is $105 a week for 20 feet and under and $170 a week for over 20 feet. A minimum payment is for a seven-day period and the maximum length of stay is any combination of four weeks during the boating season. Transient fees will be valid June 1 and Nov. 19."

Sailfish/sunfish racks are available for rental at both Tappen and Roosevelt. The fee is $175 for residents and $200 for non-residents. Racks for dinghys up to 12 feet in length are available at Roosevelt only at a seasonal fee of $125 for residents and $150 for non-residents.

The supervisor noted that the boating season will run from Saturday, April 22, through Sunday, Nov. 19. "This way," he commented, "the season will accommodate the fall fishing season."

Supervisor Venditto announced that there is additional good news for seniors using Tappen and Roosevelt Marinas. "Persons who were born on or before Nov. 19, 1940, are entitled to a discount of 10 percent on their marina fee," the Supervisor stated. "With everything our seniors have done for our town, this is just a small way the town board can show its appreciation."
