Too Quiet on Western Waterfront
Things are all quiet on the Western Waterfront - too quiet. Work that was to be done on the former Jakobson Shipyard offices to turn it into a DEC facility with room for the Oyster Bay Sailing Center and the Christeen Oyster Sloop Preservation Corporation has stopped because of lack of funds.

Baymen Ready Themselves for Season
After a long summer of waiting, the Oyster Bay High School football team finally took to the practice field the week of Monday, Aug. 23. Under the direction of head coach Tore Barbaccia, the team began a rigorous conditioning schedule that includes numerous practices over a short period of time. The players also learned basic football during the first week of practice.

It was indeed a wonderful day in Oyster Bay, as over 1,000 enthusiastic triathletes gathered at Theodore Roosevelt Memorial Park on Sunday morning, Aug. 22, to compete in the 12th Annual Seacrest-TOBAY Triathlon.

Summer Hoops '99
Championship Sunday, Aug. 15, concluded the wildly successful St. Gertrude's Summer Hoops '99 program The Collegiate Division winner was the Pirates, who defeated the Eagles in a very competitive high-scoring game, 53-49. The Senior Division witnessed the Raging Cajuns defeating the Tarheels by the score of 36-27. The Select Division finalists were the Blue Wave 1 team matched up against the Baymen from Oyster Bay.
