St. Gertrude's Summer Basketball program is in full swing reaching the halfway point of the season.

There are a total of 110 boys and 24 girls who are part of the summer program. The girls are participating during the week in skill development and various drills, with the ultimate goal of putting together a fifth grade CYO Travel team in the fall of 1999.

The boys division has seen a majority of closely contested games in all three divisions.

Important dates coming up are the league barbeque to be held at Centre Island Beach on Saturday, Aug. 7 from 5 p.m. until 11 p.m.

Playoffs for the boys begin on Aug. 8 and conclude with three championship games on Aug. 15.
