Stand for Children Event Views Assets
The day Dr. Jimmy Calloway spoke at the Oyster Bay High School on the assets/positive influences children need to be successful adults - a 19-year-old Oyster Bay and a 16-year-old East Norwich youth were arrested for assault. They and a 20-year-old Hicksville man kicked and pummeled an 18-year-old Farmingdale man on the platform of the Oyster Bay LIRR station at 8 p.m. on May 31. The three were arrested on June 1. The three demonstrated there is a need for the community to consider the 40-Assets Development program.

Town of Oyster Bay Recreational Rowing Program
The Town of Oyster Bay Recreational Rowing Program run by the Sagamore Rowing Association is beginning on June 21. The SRA is the largest rowing association in the nation, with over 400 members.

'Hope Happens' Golf Classic
Harmony Heights Residential and Day School kicked off its 25th anniversary capital and endowment campaign by hosting the first annual "Hope Happens" Golf Classic at Harbor Links Golf Course in Port Washington on May 24. The 18-hole links style course, which was opened in July of 1998, is owned by the Town of North Hempstead and managed by the the Arnold Palmer Golf Management company. It has already been nominated as one of the best new public golf courses in America for 1999.
