Cove Neck to Use NCPD, Again
Mayor Tom Zoller has been shopping around to find the best police force for Cove Neck. With their five-year police contract with Oyster Bay Cove in its sixth year and with a disagreement as to that cost, he and his board have decided on the Nassau County Police Department again, but with a change. Previously they were getting a special rate from the county of $225,000 a year, based on the service required for the small community - now they are paying the regular district rate.

George O'Neill Gives a Reading
The letter from Oyster Bay Cove Trustee George O'Neill was read at the April 12 meeting. Although the letter was not read at the last meeting with the claim that it would be litigious, it only appeared critical of Mayor Michael Peragine and the village's loss of the Cove Neck Police Contract which Mr. O'Neill called a "Most significant negative event for the residents of Oyster Bay Cove."

Grenville Baker Club Gets Gals Soccer Grant
The Grenville Baker Boys & Girls Club is being awarded $500 from the Women's Sports Foundation. The WSF, in collaboration with the 1999 Tampax Grants for Girls Program, awarded one of 76 grants to the Boys & Girls Club for a Girls Soccer Program. Thanks to the support of the WSF and Tampax, an all-girl soccer league for girls in grades 1-6 will premier in the fall of 1999. The grant will help finance equipment and uniforms.
