This is officially, the first issue of the Oyster Bay Enterprise Pilot to be published in the new year. That means we are getting closer to the millennium and the millennium bug.

I have been listening to the warnings about the Y2K problem, and am hoping it is like much of what happens in life. I have found that the more you worry about something, the more you agonize, the more you plan what you are going to do because of a problem - the surer you can be that when the time comes - it all just blows away like the petals on a dandelion.

I sure hope that is true of Y2K.

It is going to cost the country a great deal of money to clean up the projected problems. In Nassau County, Legislator John Canning has said it will cost $17 million to clean up the glitches.

Well, if you look at it in perspective - that means jobs for a lot of people. Just remember in the words of Leonard Bernstein in the musical Candide - you just have to pass it along. The important thing is that everyone should work real hard at it, to make it a whimper and not a bang.
