There are two vacant seats for village trustee in this year's election in Oyster Bay Cove (OBC). Given the surprising twists and turns of last year's election and subsequent changes of personnel, this election's really important. However, it is daunting to consider running for village trustee when faced with the challenge of working with the issues OBC faces today.
Well, two men have enough commitment to our village and its residents to step forward and run for the two vacancies in this election: Ralph A. Fumante and Denis J. O'Kane. Both are members of the Oyster Bay Cove Citizen's Association and both are dedicated to maintaining the friendly, rural charm of our village.
In an era where big business rules, and many villages are considering allowing big business to set up shop (e.g., the proposed Cellular Tower in Matinecock on a residential street,) villages like ours are precious and rare.
Where else on Long Island can you enjoy two-acre zoning, beautiful trees and natural landscaping, a bird sanctuary, beaches and friendly, honest, hardworking neighbors? Where else can you see magnificent sea captain homes and Colonials dating to the 17th Century? We believe this is our forever home and feel strongly about this election.
Both Denis and Ralph want to see us maintain our police force, reduce speeding and enforce zoning regulations in a more effective manner and keep our village clean. They are dedicated and hardworking and it is a pleasure knowing them. They each have commitment, spirit and drive to keep Oyster Bay Cove the wonderful place it is, while preparing intelligently for its future. They both are hardworking, family-oriented people. They both are good neighbors and good friends to many of our residents. They are both accomplished businessmen. They each have our vote. And we feel they are worthy of yours!
