The coaches of the two girl's lacrosse teams are pleased with the progress they are making as the girls learn the game. Although they have yet to win any games the games have been exciting to watch and to play.

This year is a building year for the 3rd and 4th grade boys lacrosse team. Their skills have improved with each game as they learn what fun this action packed game can be.

The fourth grade boys lacrosse team has played three games and lost only one. The games played have been fast, high scoring and exciting. These boys are playing well and continue working on improving their skills and working as a team.

The 5th and 6th grade boys lacrosse team is undefeated winning all three of the games played, even against some of the strongest teams in the league. The pace of the game at this level is fast so their skills must be fine tuned to accomplish as much as they have this year.

The home field for all of these teams is the Locust Valley High School. Girls play on Saturday afternoons and boys play on Sunday.

Saturday, May 30 will be a busy day for the Oak Neck Athletic Council. They will be at the Bayville Firehouse from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. Registration for the 1998 season for football and cheerleading is being held that day (yes, it really is that time of year again). These programs are open to all children ages 7 - 12 who live in Bayville, Locust Valley, Oyster Bay, and the surrounding communities. The football and cheerleading programs are entering their third season and this year we expect great things.

Also going on at the same time that day will be a bake sale and car wash organized by the coaches, players, and families of the Oak Neck Athletic Council Lacrosse Program. The lacrosse teams are in the middle of their second season. They continue to amaze their spectators with their athletic abilities and team spirit as they compete against teams from all over the Island.

Come down and show your support for the children of our communities who participate in the programs of this fine organization.
