Our OBEN Tornadoes soccer travel team traveled to Merrick to play their third league game of the spring season on Saturday, April 25. The Tornadoes had an advantage during the first half with a strong wind on their back, they capitalized half way through with Elena Albanese taking a blasting shot after she tripped the ball from a Starzz player, for their first goal of the game.

The Starzz came on strong with a quick goal at the beginning of the second half with the help of the wind being in their favor during the remainder of the game. The Tornadoes were not happy to settle for a tie. Our goalie Casey Leigh charged up our defensive players, Alexandra Ciric, Alexandra Manfredi and Samantha Smith, to shut the door on the Starzz.

They successfully put out any fire that the Starzz attempted. Erika Reckert and Gillian Adler totally controlled our midfield. With 10 minutes to go in the game, Liza Daigh took the game into her hands by stripping the ball from a Merrick player in the midfield area and dribbled into the right wing and placed a perfect cross in front of the goal mouth where Keryn Meierdeircks positioned herself perfectly anticipating the cross and took a shot to make it a 2 to 1 game.

Oyster Bay Lightning dominated the Copiague Dynamos on April 25, winning 7 to 1.

Jeff Allen, Andres Oranges, Brendan Murphy and John Murphy scored for Oyster Bay with Jeff leading the team with three goals. The defense continued to dominate the opposing teams offense as they have done for the past three games. The Oyster Bay Lightning evened their league record with this win making it 2 wins and 2 losses.

Our intramural games were played on Sunday, April 26, under rainy conditions for the second week in a row. Our die hard coaches and players were out in the rain watching and competing. The results follow:

Knights beat Sharks 3 to 2.

Jacqueline Del Rosso and Nicolette Gotti were superb throughout the game. The Knights hooked the Sharks three times with goals. The Sharks swam by twice with Allison Klavenweiden and Sarah Callahan leading the school of Sharks.

Hurricanes beat Barracudas 6 to 1.

Kelly Madden and Sarah Anderson were unstoppable for the Hurricanes. Brianne Sepulvida and Megan Costello were superb for the Barracudas.

TNT tied Falcons. The Falcons played 30 minutes of soccer against TNT for a scoreless tie. Kevin was outstanding for TNT and Krill Lezebnick was superb for the Falcons.

In the girls division, The NoName beat Diamond Backs 1 to 0.

This game was superb, it was played in the pouring rain, with both teams having a full squad and many spectators on the side line, including some that were scouting for a travel team players. Many spectators were commenting on how well the girls were playing, it was most enjoyable for some of the spectator coaches whocoached these girls since they were in the pee wee division, to see how well they developed their soccer skills.

Some of the key players included: Becky Zoller, Milena Duke, Virginia Knott, Sara Kirck, Chauncey Kerr, Jenna Ament, Keegan and Taylor Calligar, Christine Lattman and many, many more.

The game ended with a No Name player to remain anonymous - who took a powerful high towering shot that went over the goalie's head who was coming out to make the play and the ball landed in the back of the net. Since no official results were submitted, the data for this article was also obtained from an anonymous source.
