Bayville, Bayville by the sea
What makes me love thee?
Is it the Sun, coming up over the Sound, so red
That makes me happy that we met?
Or is it the fishermen on the Bay
Fishing for the "Catch of the Day"?
Is it seeing the children so happy to play at your shores
Or wandering over your salty tidal moors?
Perhaps it is your little churches on the hill
Where we learn to live by His Divine will.
While all of this is true, I ponder, and I wonder
If it is the people of this village so small, that says it all.
I see them, unpretentious, at their work and play
Always willing to share the time of day.
To say Hello! even to the mayor on a first name basis
Makes me feel at home in this peaceful oasis.
As I sit at night to watch the Sun go down in the West
I know that I have found the Best,
And I pray that God may hold his gracious hand
Over this precious little piece of land.
