Billy Minicozzi said the picture in the April 30 issue was the Davis moving company in Locust Valley, near Barney's Corner in Locust Valley. He also reported that the Bayville Fire House softball team lost Monday night, April 27, to the Atlantic Steamer Fire Company team: 18 to 11. "The only good thing that happened for the Bayville team was that John Doyle hit two home runs," said Billy Minicozzi.

John DeJesu, called from Glen Cove Hospital at 2 p.m. on Wednesday to say it was "Barney's Corner and the Walton P. Davis moving storage company on Oyster Bay Road at the intersection."

The unsolved mystery was solved on Wednesday, April 29, at 4 p.m. "It's standing at the top of School House, looking down at Huckleberry. The dead end behind is to the Bermingham School," said Hillary Strong, an OB mail carrier. "I do that route on Wednesdays. Today, I was out there, saw the picture and said - I was there!"

"It's looking down School House Place at Huckleberry," said Lou Kaplan.

"It's the corner of Bayville Road and Oyster Bay Road, where the old Barney's was and where the Walton P. Davis Moving company is," said Ann Albro, of Bayville, who runs the Village Church's rummage sales. "Another successful one, thanks to your advertising it," she said.

"It's in Locust Valley, right at Bayville Road at Barney's Corner and the moving company to the right," said Julie Carla. She is a student at LVHS. Her favorite subject is math or English. "What I really liked was the Young Writer's Conference." After attending it she was inspired to become a screenwriter!

Speaking of the unsolved mystery photo: Steve Perotto called and said, "I grew up around the photo location. It's the view from the Bermingham School. I went there for six years. That was a beautiful school. It was a great place to play, with great sleigh riding. "

Steve said he used to shoot hoops with Dr. Miller, the Bermingham principal. "He was terrific. He used to come out there and always was involved, sitting in the classroom and taking an interest."

The next caller ID'd last week's picture. "It's the corner of School House and Huckleberry Lane in Oyster Bay," said TR school student Timothy Haefele. He is in Mr. Seigelman's third grade class and is reading Cool Math.

"It's the old Country Bumpkin and part of Walton Davis on Bayville Road and Oyster Bay Road," said Fran Grzybowski.

Sarah Jansen of Bayville recognized Barney's corner where the moving company is on Oyster Bay Road and Bayville Road. She guessed the unsolved mystery was "Hill Lane in Oyster Bay."

Kathy Ross of the Visiting Nurse Association said, "The new picture is the corner of the Walton P. Davis company and Barney's Corner. The other one I think is up off Singworth, but I'm not sure." She was right on target with the first picture and within walking distance of the second.

John Martin of Oyster Bay called to say, "This week's picture is Barney's Corner and the Walton P. Davis Company. Have a nice day!"

Kathy Michie, (Kerri Michie is her little sister), who works at Tom Reardon's office in Oyster Bay said, "Last week's mystery picture was Huckleberry Lane and this week's is Barney's Corner." She was surprised no one guessed the picture last week. "The Huckleberry's looked so easy last week," she said.

Alice Horan, of East Norwich said, "It's Locust Valley, the corner where the Davis movers are on Oyster Bay Road and Bayville Road."

Mrs. Horan has lived in Oyster Bay-East Norwich, "just about all my life." She lives on Radcliff, and I asked about the entrance area to that area. "There was an accident there," she said. "The bricks in the white wall on the left are all in a tumbled pile. The Radcliff area used to be my husband's father's farm. The Hawthorne area was the Gilberts' farm. They had horses.

The Horans' house is where the doctors building is by the firehouse. It was a Spanish type house. You could go up in the tower and see New York City, she said. Her sister-in-law is Mary Cormier whose husband, the late Henri Cormier, was the Postmaster of East Norwich. Her other sister-in-law is Ann Heilig. The tower is no longer there, she said. There was a fire in about 1956 or 55. That was the end of the farm. It's written up in the book on the history of East Norwich by John Hammond in honor of the tricentennial of the village. "It is nice to go back into history," she said.

Chris Mercadante said the mystery picture is "Locust Valley: technically called Barney's Corner on Bayville Road and Buckram Road."

Bill LaPorte, ID'd the picture, "Looking down from the Bermingham School and this week's is Barney's corner."

Richard Downing said the picture is in "Locust Valley: the corner of Buckram and Bayville Roads, where the Walton B. Davis company is." He was at the East Norwich Volunteer Fire Company outing on Monday.

Peter Higgins, called and asked if the mystery picture had been identified for last week. "Nobody got it last week," he said. "I always know them but I don't call." He correctly identified the picture as "School House Lane looking down from Bermingham. I went there from second to sixth grade. This week's is down by Barney's Corner!"

First-time caller: Alexander Bladykas, ID'd the unsolved mystery photo as "The road that leads to the Bermingham School." Right!

"It's the Walton P. Davis moving company on Bayville Road, said Mrs. Margas of Hicksville.

Pat Lowry, a teacher at the Roosevelt School also knew the location as where the Country Bumpkin is located.

Frank Raymond, Fran's brother was another first-time caller, who always knows the picture. He too spotted the unidentified mystery site as School House Lane.
