Have you wondered what the large sign in front of the chamber office, donated by Les and Paula of Pine Island Etch & Sign, means? It's the Oyster Bay Chamber of Commerce's subtle way to invite you to participate in "Operation Clean Sweep"—a morning dedicated to beautifying and cleaning up downtown Oyster Bay on April 26 from 9:30-noon.

Les Marbles, vice president and Gregory Koke, president of the Oyster Bay Chamber of Commerce with sign donated by Pine Island Etch kicking off Operation Clean Sweep.

The Oyster Bay Chamber of Commerce and volunteers will take to the streets. Volunteers will form teams and spread out for a few hours to clean up, plant and beautify the areas of downtown. Join us to kick off spring in a memorable and rewarding way. It will fill you with a sense of pride to be part of a community working together. Proving that individuals who share a common direction and sense of common purpose can succeed at anything.

Huckleberry's Cafe will provide free refreshments throughout the course of the event. The flowers will be provided by the Oyster Bay Chamber of Commerce. They will be planted by the local Girl Scouts under the direction of Bob Connors of State Bank, Ada Flower and Lynn McDonald.

In the spirit of unity, chamber representatives met with Ray Starke from the Town of Oyster Bay Department of Public Works in regard to keeping our town and streets clean. In response, the Town of Oyster Bay has consented to expand the Friday morning sweeper program to include sweeper service on Tuesday as well. Our heartfelt thanks to Starke, Arthur Leo and Commissioner Leupold for their decision. So join us in "Beautifying Oyster Bay Together."
