Joan L. Butler, of Locust Valley, died on Nov. 14, 1997. Active in Friends of Friends of the Arts of Nassau, North Shore Community Choir and a volunteer at North Shore University Hospital at Glen Cove. Wife of George. Mother of Jay and Tom Butler. Herta Meyer, of Bayville, died on Nov. 24, 1997. Born in Langan, Germany, she was a housekeeper at the Tides Motel in Bayville. Wife of the late Hans. Mother of George (Zelma) and Joanne Taglino (Anthony). Grandmother of three. Great-grandmother of five. Arrangements were made by the Whitting Funeral Home, Glen Head. Marian A. Johnson, of Locust Valley, died on Nov. 24, 1997. Wife of Harold E. Mother of Flynn A. (Jill) and the late William E. Sister of the late Fred Andrew. Muriel E. Royce, 74, of Winthrop Harbor, IL died on Nov. 28, 1997 at home. She was born May 27, 1923 in Lincoln, ME to the late Donald and Viola Hunter, but spent most of her life in Oyster Bay where she was raised. She worked as an executive secretary for many years at the YMCA in Huntington. She moved to Winthrop Harbor in 1980 and worked with her son at the Silver Dollar Cafe.
She is survived by her son, Marc (Mary) Royce of Winthrop Harbor; a granddaughter Miki Royce; and two sisters, Willo (Arnold) Fogelstrom of Hauppauge and Evelyn Ford of Scottsdale, AZ. She was preceded in death by her husband Irving in 1989; and three sisters Gladys, Ruth and Ethna.
Arrangements were made by the Congdon Funeral Home. A memorial service for relatives and friends was held Dec. 1.
