Summer is in full swing at the John S. DaVanzo Community Pool. With exciting splash parties, swimming lessons, and swim meets, there is never a dull moment.
Family Fun Night is a great, free way to get out of the house and enjoy what our community has to offer. The second Family Fun Night was held on July 31. This occasion was open to Mineola residents and their guests.
Guests were privy to snacks, beverages and a night of music and dancing. As a reminder, no glass bottles are permitted in the facility. Similarly, Aug. 6 will bring Middle School Night for children entering Grades 6 through 8. Middle School Night runs from 8 to 10:30 p.m.
The swim team had its first match against Stewart Manor on July 20. Parents and competitors had an amazing time cheering on Mineola as they put up a valiant fight. Coach Julie Frey mentioned, “Everyone did well for their first meet. We hope to do better next time.”
The swim team’s competitive edge will be tested today as they have a second match against Stewart Manor. It’s sure to be an invigorating, exciting match, so residents are encouraged to attend and cheer on the swim team at 6 p.m. on the lower deck of the facility.
Session II of swimming lessons comes to a close on Aug. 6, along with the end of the Summer Recreation Camp program. To celebrate, the pool will be hosting Middle School Night from 8 to 10:30 p.m. for students entering sixth to eighth grades.
Residents may bring guests, along with their own snacks, beverages, and tables. As a reminder, no glass containers are permitted in the facility.
For those looking to plan ahead, Session III of swimming lessons will commence on Aug. 10 and run through Aug. 21.
On Aug. 14 from 8 to 10:30 p.m., the pool will be hosting its third Family Fun Night. Family Fun Night is an amazing opportunity to spend the night out with your family and while enjoying music, dancing, and swimming.
