Joe Calabro and Tina Chang have been named to the Nassau County Golf Championships to be held at Bethpage State Park in May 2010. This is a tremendous feat for the Mineola golf program, which has been coached by Al Weidlein for years.
Calabro is a five-year varsity starter and placed 14th out of a possible 36 qualifying golfers from the conference. Over the course of his career, he has continually improved through hard work and dedication and is most deserving of the honor of being captain of the team. He has exhibited the leadership skills that helped the team achieve its most successful season this decade.
Chang has qualified for her second connective county championship while placing in the top third in the conference. Tina is an extremely motivated and hard working individual who excels both on the golf course and the classroom. She is a scholar/athlete who has the potential to continue her playing career in college.
Both Joe and Tina were selected to the All-Conference team. It is the first time Mineola has placed two golfers in the Nassau County Golf Championships.
Congratulations on this amazing feat.
