Mineola Mustangs baseball standout Nick Iadevaio was selected to play in the recent Nassau County Blue Chip Prospects All Star Game at SUNY Farmingdale. Iadevaio was selected by a panel of coaches who chose the best of all Long Island high school baseball players to take part in this event.
In 19 games Nick batted .469. His 30 hits included two home runs, one triple and seven doubles. He led the team in RBIs and stolen bases. On the mound, Iadevaio compiled an impressive 5-3 record. In 47 innings pitched, he recorded a 1.19 ERA and 59 strikeouts while only allowing 33 hits.
Iadevaio threw a recent complete game 2-hitter with 14 strike-outs against Locust Valley. He also went 3-for-4 with a double, run scored and RBI.
In the second game of the three-game set against Locust Valley, Iadevaio went 2-for-3 with an RBI. The hit pushed the Mustang lead to 2-0 in a game they would win 3-1. In the series finale, Iadevaio went 2 for 3 with 2 runs scored, had a stolen base and doubled.
These impressive numbers followed an off season where Iadevaio trained hard in the high school’s fitness center and in the batting cage in preparation for his senior year. He will be continuing his academic and baseball career at Bentley College in Boston.
