Nick Iadevaio paved the way for a big four-win week for the Mineola Mustangs varsity baseball team. He leads the team in extra-base hits and leads in innings pitched and has the lowest ERA on the staff at 1.03.
Iadevaio threw a complete game 2-hitter with 14 strike-outs against Locust Valley. He also went 3-for-4 with a double, run scored and RBI.
In the second game of the three-game set against Locust Valley, Iadevaio went 2-for-3 with an RBI. The hit pushed the Mustang lead to 2-0 in a game they would win 3-1. In the series finale, Iadevaio went 2 for 3 with 2 runs scored, had a stolen base and doubled.
In a non-league game against Port Washington, Iadevaio came to bat with the Mustangs down 2-1 in the top of the seventh. He delivered a double, driving home the tying run with which the Mustangs ended up winning the game in extra innings 5-2.
He was 1-0 on the mound and 8 for 12 at the plate (.750 avg), with 3 doubles, 3RBI, three runs scored and two stolen bases for the week.
He will be attending and playing baseball at Lesley University in Boston in the fall.
