The Mineola Golf Team concluded its 2011 season with a 3-7 record. Despite a losing record the individual team members continued to show improvement in their overall game.
This year’s squad was extremely young, consisting of one senior Willie Cashin, four sophomores Captain John Lusardi, Tim Gill, Matt Eisen, Brendan Healey, and five freshman Tom Farrell, Chris Fischer, Steven Gessner, Vitushan Nimalen, and Brandan Durham.
The team is in a very competitive conference and lost two extremely close matches that were decided by a few strokes. Part of the experience was getting the opportunity to play at some of the top country clubs in the area such as Wheatley Hills CC, Huntington CC, and The Creek.
The future looks bright under the leadership of Captain John Lusardi the overall play of Tim Gill and the continued improvement of Tom Farrell, Chris Fischer, and Matt Eisen. The team needs to replace the loss of senior Willie Cashin and the younger players will get that opportunity next fall.
With some hard work and dedication over the off-season, the team hopes to show individual and team improvement.
