Teams representing Mercy Medical Center finished first among all hospital competitors at the annual Marcum Workplace Challenge charity run/walk.
The July 26 event at Jones Beach State Park drew participants from nearly 7,000 competitors representing 200 companies, nonprofits and governmental agencies.
Mercy’s women’s team – Mineola resident Laura Cavallo, physical therapist Kerry Brown, Rehabilitation Medicine director of Therapeutic Services; Dr. Colleen Daly, director of Hospitalist Services; and finished first in the entire Healthcare division, and fourth among all 54 women’s squads.
Mercy’s Keith Falvy, Kelly Brown’s brother; Dr. David Flomenhaft, director of Behavioral Health Services; and Wataru Shimizu, a physical therapy assistant, were at the top among hospital men’s teams.
The proceeds from this year’s Workplace Challenge will benefit The Long Island Children’s Museum, The Children’s Medical Fund of New York, and Long Island Cares, Inc. – The Harry Chapin Food Bank.
