I’d like to take this opportunity to thank the residents who voted in this year’s election. While the positions open for election were unopposed, the fact that individuals came out to vote demonstrates a dedication to the governance of the village.
I offer our condolences to the Sinone family on their sudden loss of John Sinone, former associate justice of the Williston Park village justice court. John served the village well in this capacity for eight years.
It appears that spring has finally arrived in this great Village of Williston Park. Grass is beginning to sprout, leaf buds are forming and in some cases opening while residents are sprucing up their properties in anticipation of the milder weather which will be moving into the area during the next few weeks.
With this spring weather upon us, the road project has resumed and is in full swing. The project should move along quickly, barring unforeseen extended poor weather conditions. Village employees have begun “spring clean-up” in earnest.
Pothole repairs have been ongoing, and limited concrete work has begun. Landscaping crews have been cleaning and restoring much of our “green space” including the Little League field at Kelleher Park.
Work is expected to begin on the front of the Village Hall. The steps are being replaced as a result of their deteriorated condition. At the same time, the front of the building will be sealed with a waterproofing system to eliminate water seeping into our library.
The village staff will be moving operations to the pool facility in the near future in order to begin the necessary work to ensure that the pool is ready to swing into full operation in June. I suggest that residents sign up early for membership in order to enjoy the benefits of the “early bird special.” The Village Green will be sent out in a couple of weeks which will include membership applications.
On behalf of the Board of Trustees and my family, we wish all a Happy Passover and a Happy Easter.
