Around the Town with Lou: November 29, 2011

Ring those bells. Bell ringers are needed by the Salvation Army from now to Christmas eve. They collect money for the poor every holiday season. If you can help, call Sidney Glee at 485-4900.

Food and fashions were the themes for the taste and fashion night of the Chamber of Commerce. Laurie Scala of Channel 4, NY, was the coordinator for the little girls who were the hit of the show. Bill Greene introduced the women and men modeling furs by Tsontos and tuxedos by Foresto’s. Among those we had a chance to talk to were Jerry Olsen, Dom Foresto, Bill Greene, Tony Lubrano, Ruth and Bill Stuart, Frank Cussano, Dot Campbell, Manny Grilo, Fran Cisco, Luis Miguel Silva, Bob Rosenthal, Ron and Kathie Figalora, Lou and Diane Casale, Sheri Wilgosz, Joel Harris, Bryan Strauss, Bill Gresalfi, Gary Mazur, Senator Jack Martins, Mayor Scott Strauss, John Spellman, Gary Katz, Mary Kirby, Rita Aidala, Kathy Monachelli, Ruth Kazdan, Carol Capurale, Jody Gowen, George Crowley, Bob Drescher, Bob Shoule, Michael Albert, Shane Fritsche, Kathy and Nayda Vsoskerijion, Michael Andrea, John and Roseann Peritore, Christy Laville and Donna Durham.

Sean Burke of Beebe Road is working on the new theater at Lincoln Center. He and Donna and son Ryan are our close neighbors.

Mike Geoffrion is a lineman in the American Hockey League. He used to live on Washington Avenue.

Pat and Helen Andretta of Mineola lunched at the Williston Town House. He is a retired Queens County Court Clerk and she is a professor of English.

Joe Vetrano and Mike Tenedorio are the owners of Skinny Pizza in Roslyn Heights. They both live in Mineola.

Susan Astor is a published poet and teaches poetry at several local schools. She is also a proofreader at Anton Newspapers. Susan lives at Richlee Court.


Jenna Kovol of Arlington Street works at the Whistle Stop for Mary Ann Fearon. Jenna graduated from SUNY Old Westbury.

Michael Romano is the new member of the Mineola Chamber of Commerce. He is tall, handsome and, yes girls, single.

Some job the village is doing on Latham Road. New curbs and gutters and repaving the road. Terrible inconvenience now but should look great when finished.

Third Precinct cop Frank Inzerillo keeping his eyes open for burglars and robbers in Mineola and Williston Park.
