Anna M. Sondovitz, of Albertson, died on Jan. 9, 2012 at age 94. Wife of the late Jack. Mother of Raymond (Heather and the late Annette), Stephanie (the late Bob) and Kenneth (Jeannette). Thomas Joseph Reina, 93, passed away on Jan. 13, 2012. He was an honorable WWII disabled veteran in the U.S. Army Engineering Corps and past commander of the DAV Pvt. S.A. Sanzone #110. He was owner of Superior Welding and had a 28-year career in the New York City branch of the USPS as the dispatch manager. He most wanted to be remembered as a devoted husband of Violet, father to Cecelia, Sandy and the late MaryAnn, grandfather of eight and as “one who loved his fellow man.” Arrangements were made by Weigand Bros. John J. Coyle, of Mineola, age 45, passed away on Dec. 12, 2011. John was the president and owner of Pathways to Independent Living. He committed his life to helping the elderly and disabled. John is the loving son of John and Cecelia Coyle of Port Washington. Beloved brother of Dr. Christina Coyle (husband Dr. Charles Noyer); Dora Coyle Barbaro (husband Craig Barbaro) and his twin brother, Michael Coyle. George E. Ernst, 94, a resident at Willow Valley, formerly of Mineola, passed away peacefully on Oct. 16, 2011 at Arbor View at Willow Valley, Lancaster, PA. Born Dec. 23, 1916 in Queens, he was the son of the late George and Edna (Barden) Ernst. He was married to Gladys G. (Trafford) Ernst for over 68 years. A veteran of WWII, George proudly served with the U.S. Army.
Ian Angus Edward born Aug. 7, 1932 in Bristol, England, son of the late George Simpson Minty Edward and the late Gertrude Helen Edward nee Bulloch, died at Glen Cove Hospital, Aug. 30, 2011, aged 79 years.
At 13 Ian left boarding school and joined Her Majesty’s Royal Air force where he trained in munitions. From age 21 until the birth of his first child in 1979 Ian worked as an actor in the theater for 26 years, first in London and then in New York after his immigration to America in 1963. He married Joan Marie Hockenjos on April 1, 1978 at Corpus Christi Church. He and his wife settled down in Mineola to raise their family and he took work as a chauffeur/owner/operator of a limousine franchise.
