Mineola School Budget Passes

The Mineola School District budget passed by 281 votes (1,350-1,069) as well as proposition 2 and 3. The adopted budget for the 2010-2011 school year is $80,128,573. The budget increase from last year is 1.12 percent with a proposed tax levy of 2.5 percent. The Capital Reserve Fund (prop. 2) passed by 36 votes (1,078-1,042). Proposition 3, which decided for next year’s voting for board seats to be “at large” meaning the most votes gets the seat, passed by 351 votes (1,163-812).
Irene Parrino will take Laraine Salvatore’s seat on the board next year. Parrino ran unopposed in the election with 1,494 votes.
